A member of the public has reported spotted what they believe to be a puma near Cyffyliog in Denbighshire.

The location is just a few miles from a previous sighting in Llansannan and close to both the Denbigh Moors and Clocaenog Forest.

The encounter with the ‘grey’ animal occurred at around 3 PM on Thursday 1st April. The witness claims to have seen what could have been the same animal at around midnight just a few days earlier.

Huw Morris told Puma Watch: “I hopped over a fence and saw a cat slightly larger than a Labrador in a field about 5 metres away. It ran away as soon as it heard me land and saw me. I was alone.

“I had already encountered what I now believe to be the same type of animal (possibly the same one), several days before at closer quarters. It was around midnight and so I couldn’t see what it was, but I was startled as it growled at me in a way that did not sound like a dog.

“I could tell in the dark that it was not the right shape for a dog.”
