Steven got in touch with us to report a puma sighting near Cemlyn, on the Isle of Anglesey. The encounter took place around 7am one morning in early June 2020.
He said: “I was driving away from Cemlyn after fishing there throughout the night. The cat was approximately 60-70 meters in front crossing the road from right to left. It took 1 last step before jumping across the long grass and into the hedge.”
The location is close to the Wylfa nuclear power station and the popular Cemlyn Bay beach, though otherwise the rural area is one of the most remote parts of Anglesey – and it’s not the first time big cats have been spotted on the island.

‘Puma’ encountered on Wylfa mountain close to Cemlyn and adjacent to Wylfa power station , came within two meters of the fellow. Certainly not completely wild as stared at me over bush before making off. This was during complete lockdown last June when very few people venturing out. Unfortunately not encountered again.
