A member of the public has reported a frightening encounter with a ‘growling and snarling’ creature while walking their dog in Caldy Valley Nature Park in the Huntington area of Chester.
The incident occurred just days after a big cat was spotted twice in the Countess Country Park on the other side of the city, and is relatively close to multiple sightings, including one caught on camera, on Chester Meadows.
Kevin told Puma Watch: “I was walking my dog and heard a guttural growl from the undergrowth. There was no path near it, other than the main path I was walking on with my dog.
“There was no attempt to recall a domesticated animal which you would expect from a pet owner at that time of night.
“I heard continuous growling and snarling and was grateful I’d kept my dog on his lead!”
Big cat sightings are now so commonplace in Chester they have been immortalised in the ‘Lego Chester’ display within Chester Market. One was recently spotted twice in one night behind Sealand Road Asda after another was spotted near Chester Zoo. At the time, the Zoo confirmed their animals were secure and that the sighting was not of an escapee.
